Who is Escape Kitty?

Let me introduce myself. I am Escape Kitty.

I got my start on Sept 1, 2010 as I was out playing in the yard enjoying the birds and squirrels. Really just minding my own business. Happy. Content. Daydreaming.

When, but in an instant, I caught a movement in the corner of my eye. Since cats are noted for their superior vision, I had to do a double take because I thought my eyesight had failed me. I shut my kitty eyes for a moment and reopened them to disbelief.

A coyote? In MY yard? Could it be? And he's drooling my way? Move move move! Find my mom . Run to safety.

Big mistake! Really big mistake. Now she never lets me outside. Done - left to dream. ahhhhh but Kitty dreams really do come true.

So come follow me! I am off to Escape.

Escape Kitty - Little Miss -Scraps of Elegance

This is Little Miss also known as Escape Kitty.
The elegant delightful dainty Scraps Of Elegance Kit for the month of July featured Bo Bunny's beautiful Little Miss Collection.  So Miss Kitty decided to play along with the dainty themed papers.

Kitty is playing dress up - pearls, a hat, some lace and flowers.  Just puuuurfect.  She was planning a tea party.  She was hoping that the birds in the cages would join her.   To Kitty's keen ears, it sounded as if they were singing a tune saying "hey let me outta here here here".

Well then,  that's just what she did. The cages flew open and the birds hesitated for only a moment before they hopped to the edge and flapped their wings to freedom.

"Come back, tea's being served" yelled Kitty.  But they were long gone.

For the first time ever, Kitty was caught at her own game -the 'ol escape routine.  Duped by two birds.
There is a first for everything Kitty.

Little Miss was designed using the July Scraps Of Elegance Kit and the design is from the Dusty Attic August sketch challenge by Michelle Grant.

I used the Dusty Attic Sweet Pea Border DA0593 to hold up the bird cages.  I also used the Dusty Attic in Bloom - Bridal Veil DA0805

Here is a close up of the Dusty Attic Blooms in Bridal Veil.  I simply took off the stamens, added a tan punch from the McGill Starburst punch and then glued the stamens back on top.

My background was made by tearing several different patterned papers from the Bo Bunny Little Miss collection.  I also included masking tape pieces as well.  Then I applied matt finish Mod Podge over my paper strips and tape to make sure the tape does not come off in the future.

After my Mod Podge dried, I took some gesso and a little water and painted a thin white wash over the strips just softening things up a bit.

Thanks Michelle for the design.

Escape Kitty Salutes the 2012 Olympics

Congratulations to all the US Olympians on your world class achievements.

And Kitty wants to give a special shout out to the Women's US Soccer team on their puuuuuurfect gold.    Kitty looks great in gold, but the Women's US Soccer team looks even better.

Smile for me Kitty...

Smile for me Kitty.
Smile for me, just once.  Someone recently asked me to smile in a photo once in a while.

Say cheese.  click.  And look at the results.   Dreadful.

My tongue hangs out, revealing my snaggle tooth.   Bad kitty look.  So now you know the hideous truth about why kitties do not smile.

So next time you ask, I'm gonna have to remind you that the results may frighten small children.   Kitty is about loving up the babies, not bringing them to tears.

Escape Kitty - Relaxin in the Pool - Scraps Of Darkness Aug Reveal, Jamaincan Sunset and CSI #32

Jamaican Sunset - Aug Scraps Of Darkness

Welcome to the August reveal for Scraps of Darkness.
The great thing about the Scraps of Darkness kit is that it is packed with versatile products that allow you the freedom to create art to fit your mood.  And the mood of this months kit is fun, flirty Summer boldness.  Summer seems to be slipping past us rather quickly.  This kit will help us capture a little more of summer 2012 to hold onto forever.  We all want to do that, I bet.

This magnificent kit, thoughtfully assembled features the papers from:
The Scrap Cake - Summer City
My Minds Eye  -Indie Chic
Stick pins by Mandy Harrell

I also created this to meet the criteria for Case file #32 of CSI - Color, Stories, Inspiration.
The testimony criteria was to journal a transformation.  I also used the word calm to describe part of her experience. You'll need to read on....gotta see the unique way Kitty gets transformed.    Boy oh boy does Kitty get transformed.

So let's figure out what Kitty's up to, shall we?
So what's Kitty up to these days?  She is enjoying the Summer and all that it has to offer.  A calm peaceful float around a pool is a great way for Kitty to keep cool and refreshed.  There is a tiny itty-bitty problem - a sharp side to this cat tale.  Claws.
Kitty does get pampered with pawdicures often, but plastic rafts and Kitty nails  don't make for a successful combination.
Any guesses as to what happened?

Did Kitty make it out without getting wet?    hmmmmm does this photo look familiar?

This was also created using the sketch from Charlotte Jenkins, suepup.  Thanks again, Charlotte for your continued inspiration.

I used the Dusty Attic Pots and Columns DA0546 and painted with Adirondack acrylic paint in Snow Cap.

My Evidence:
  • wet medium to create my dots of white paint on the background paper.
  • I also used some gauze around my Dusty Attic chippy column.

Thanks for spending the time looking and reading.  I appreciate this a great deal.

Please check out  Scraps of Darkness and the art created by the rest of the wildly talented design team.  The kits are incredibly fun and well assembled.

Please remember to LIKE Kitty on Facebook.  She needs your support if she ever plans on achieving feline world domination.

Olympic Diving Kitty -Swan Dive- Scraps Of Elegance, Summer Haven

Welcome to the August Scraps Of Elegance , Summer Haven.  What a gorgeous and inspirational kit.  It features Kaisercraft, Teresa Collins and Fabscraps.   Melinda, our talented leader and owner is masterful at coordinating papers and cool fascinating embellishments.
Our kits also showcase the beautiful and unique butterflies handcrafted by Renea Harrison

So let's talk about Kitty, shall we?

Olympic Diving Kitty - Swan Dive

Along with the entire world, Escape Kitty is all caught up in the Olympic hoopla.  Kitty dreams of the gold,   silver and bronze.  She fancies that her best sport would be the dive/jump.  She decided to give it a go.  It is very apparent that Kitty does not have the grace that is developed by years of training, but she's having fun and making friends. That's what is important.

Problem is that Kitty got a little excited when she heard the coach tell her to do the Swan Dive.   Swan?  Where?  Where's the swan?  Instead of doing a Swan Dive, Kitty's diving for the swan.  Ugh.
So Kitty did NOT bring home a medal BUT she is the team's mascot.  And that's OK with Kitty.
PS - Kitty is still looking for that Swan, and still a little puzzled at how it got away so darn fast.

This was also created using the sketch from Charlotte Jenkins, suepup.  Thanks again, Charlotte for your continued inspiration.

The white stuff in the background is white tissue paper all smashed up and placed over the patterned paper for some frothy texture.

Here is the actual photo.
