Who is Escape Kitty?

Let me introduce myself. I am Escape Kitty.

I got my start on Sept 1, 2010 as I was out playing in the yard enjoying the birds and squirrels. Really just minding my own business. Happy. Content. Daydreaming.

When, but in an instant, I caught a movement in the corner of my eye. Since cats are noted for their superior vision, I had to do a double take because I thought my eyesight had failed me. I shut my kitty eyes for a moment and reopened them to disbelief.

A coyote? In MY yard? Could it be? And he's drooling my way? Move move move! Find my mom . Run to safety.

Big mistake! Really big mistake. Now she never lets me outside. Done - left to dream. ahhhhh but Kitty dreams really do come true.

So come follow me! I am off to Escape.

Escape Kitty #35 - Pirates AND Reveal Day -Scraps Of Darkness January Kit - Escape plus Big Announcement

Welcome to the January Reveal for the Escape Kit from Scraps of Darkness.  Reveal day is filled with enough excitement for most of us however we have one big announcement at Scraps Of Darkness to put you on the edge of your seats.

We are expecting a new baby! We (not me).  No, no one at Scraps of Darkness is pregnant, that we know of, but SOD is getting a new little sister.

On Feb 1st, we reveal a new line of kits, Scraps Of Elegance.  Different than the SOD line but coordinated by the same talented folks who prepare the Scraps Of Darkness kit so you know it will be the highest quality, most extraordinary assemblage of goodies.

We are honored to have a very special guest to help with the launching of the kit.  Ohhhhhh I can't wait to see what she creates with the Scraps Of Elegance kit.  We are also having a blog hop with prizes on Feb 1st to welcome the new arrival.

So join us for the reveal and the fun all starting Feb 1st.

Oh how I love reveal day!  The excitement of showing off the new kit from Scraps Of Darkness.  Well it's here and it's filled with warm tropical delights to take your mind off the cold stark winter.  At least it's cold and stark outdoors where I live.  Inside?  Not a chance.  This kit brings the bold colors of the tropics right into your creative area.

Featuring these paper lines:
Pink Paislee-
Nantucket- Jumbo Shrimp, Clam Bake, Lobster Bisque
G45- Tropical Travelogue
Oceana, Hibiscus Heaven, Rainforest, Island Jewel, Tropical Travelogue, botanica, Garden Isle

Coordinating Paper-
Authentique- Gathering, Harmony, Bloom
Pink Paislee- Nantucket, Crab Cakes
G45- Tropical Travelogue, Tiki Voyager, Seaside Holiday

This new January kit is called Escape.  Lets just put it out there.  This kit was named after me.  Why state the obvious?  Well, most would probably assume that I am Melinda's favorite Mascot Designer.  That would be true.  Melinda, our wonderful leader and owner of Scraps Of Darkness does favor me (I think). And who wouldn't?

Actually I have never asked her about this, but then why bother to name a whole wonderful fun exciting kit after moi?  Thus and such I must be her favorite.  I don't see her naming a kit the "Jrabs kit".  LOL - sorry momma Jrabs, Jennifer.  Work a little harder honey.

Soooooooooo now that this is all settled, let's get on with the story.

Escape Kitty (and Chena) #35 - Pirates

Special photo credit to Maryanne Stanford

Kitty could not find a parrot to sit on her little pirtate-ess shoulder so she improvised and decided the very best thing would be to invite her bestie, Chena, for the trip.    Chena is a Standard Poodle owned by fellow scrap artist, Maggi Harding

Chena was a go.  After finding a cool skull cap for Chena, the pair set sail for the Australian coast.  I did not bother to ask who's boat they borrowed.  I don't own a boat and neither does Maggi.  So that leaves ?????????  That's a headache waiting to happen if I dare ask -so I will just ignore that whole topic.

Trade winds, good fortune, and a little Kitty magic all wrapped together got the girls from the East coast of the US to Australia in about a day.   Not quite the same kind of magic that Santa uses, but close.  Remember that Kitty rode with Santa this past Christmas , wore his Santa hat ( read through past issues of the blog for her magical details and incredible photos), and picked up a few tricks in expediency and overnight magic Santa style.

Kitty and Chena, may I make a gentle suggestion?  Please take your hats off as you near the port of Sidney?  You may frighten some folks and cause a stir - plus get yourselves locked up by the Australian officials.  Guess what?  I do not have your same kind of Kitty magic to get there in a day and bail you out of the Australian jail.

Be safe lil pirates.

This was created using the sketch design by Suepup, Charlotte Jenkins and features the amazing Scraps Of Darkness January Kit - Escape.

This wooden piece from Pink Paislee was coated with Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder in Desert Moon Turquoise from the color add-on kit at Scraps Of Darkness.  I also dotted with Lime Green and Yellow stickles.

Kitty is so focused on navigating the boat.

I made the background papers of the layout from the paper bag packaging in the kit and some paints and mists.

Thanks to Maryanne Stanford, Oziem, for sending me the wonderful photo of the Sidney Opera House view from the sea.
Thanks to Maggi for collaborating in this crazy series. Please check her blog, Scrap Travel and Bark.
Thanks to you for reading this.

StayBehind Cat

This is StayBehind Cat - Kitty's cat brother.

This layout was made for a round robin challenge at Scraps Of Darkness.   Based on the design  of  RubyMillerand's Happy Birthday layout.   Thanks for the challenge.   For me, using three photos is a giant challenge and it's great to be pushed.

Why StayBehind Cat?  Well he is really happy to be home - such a content cat.  Some would dare call him a chicken, or scaredy cat  and it would be true, I guess.  But I just like to think him more of a momma's cat-boy.

His nickname is Butterfly Daydreamer.  He would love nothing more than to sit in the grass and stare at  butterflies, maybe chase one or two.  It really is sweet  - but enough of this sweet talk.

This is Escape Kitty's blog and not a place to gush with pleasantries and sweet mushy talk.

The black paper diecut frame around one of the photos was a gift received in the mail from my Aunt Judy.  Nice huh?  A gal who can understand my scrappy passion and send the puuuuurfect surprise gift?
These are a few of his photos sitting in the sun.

This is RubyMillerand's Happy Birthday layout that I lifted for a december round robin challenge at Scraps Of Darkness.      I used the december Kit - Winter's Eve.
Come checkout the kit.  January's kit is a great way to escape the winter blues.

Thanks for looking and have a puuuurfect day.

Escape Kitty - Pirate walking the Plank -Episode #34 (Scraps Of Darkness)

Episode #34 - Walking the Plank- created for Scraps Of Darkness

Kitty is a Pirate setting for the seas.  But there are no seas close-by, so she got a bit frustrated and decided to walk the plank.....in our back yard.  Not real dangerous since she had no idea what walking the plank really meant.  Just that she saw some wood on the ground and had heard the expression before.  So Kitty, being Kitty, put two and two together and came up with the brilliant idea.  Ya know, being the adventure seeking pirate that she is.  LOL

Kitty likes to think she is trendy and hip. Her brand of Pirate Chic I guess.

Now she thinks she gets bragging rights - yeah walking the plank is no big deal!  Only cat to achieve such a feat.

Kitty's now sailing to Australia with her Standard Poodle pal, Chena.  Maggi43's dog.  You can check out Maggi's amazing gallery for that scoop.  Chena's costume cracks me up!  You can also check out Maggi's blog, Scrap Travel  and Bark for the stories.

This was created using the Scraps Of Darkness Dec Kit - Winter's Eve.   Nothing wintery about this.  Shows the versatility of the kit.  Come visit us.

Thanks Maggi for your collaboration.
Thanks a million and have a puuuuurfect day.

Escape Kitty -Return of the Pirate

Return of the Pirate.
Before the holiday season started, Escape Kitty set off to become a pirate.  She went about the world looking for a parrot to sit on her shoulder. All good and successful pirates have a parrot.  In Kitty's case, she was really just hoping any bird would work out, not picky in the particular type of bird.  She was looking for a good and sold reliable first mate.

She tried asking a hummingbird because he would have been the perfect size to fit on her shoulder.   But she could not get the hummingbird to sit still long enough to pose the idea.

Next she tried a pair of Macaws, thinking that two birds would be even better than one and would make her the best pirate ever.  That plan did not work out.

Then she traveled to Australia to see if our scrapping friend, Chez's Cockatoo named Cockie would want the honor. Nope, no go.  Cockie loves Chez way too much to leave home.

So, BAM!  A super great idea popped into her head.  Chena!  Oh Chena.  Maggi Harding's Standard Poodle, Chena, would make a great pirate.  Not because all great pirates wear black, and she happens to be a black poodle - but for the simple fact that she is Escape Kitty's best friend.  That's why she would make the best pirate matey ever.

So off they went to find the high seas and sail to Australia.  Have fun and be careful.

This is a photo that Maggi snapped just as the sail boat was leaving the docks.   Great skullcap, Chena!  Looking good.

Ahoy!
Here is the adventure from Maggi's blog:

From Maggi's place at Scrapbook.com- Flying Unicorn

Oh my gosh, what ARE those two up to now? I thought it was kind of odd when I saw her digging around in the attic in the old costumes bin. But you know with Chena, she could as well be looking for a long forgotten bone as a costume. Oh but no, she was looking for a skullcap. Am I the only person in the world with a crazed animal that is overtaken by wanderlust? Um no, Jen aka Jrabs has Escape Kitty that is Chena's partner in crime. And from the appearance of the lamp post I'd say these two are gearing up for a sail to Australia. I sure hope Kitty knows how to sail 'cause all Chena knows how to do is drive our motorhome.

Oh just makes me start humming CSN Southern Cross, love that song.

Be safe Kitty and Chena, watch out for the sharks and crocodiles. Chena mind you manners and be sweet to Kitty, I don't want you to end up in the brig!

Thanks Maggi for contributing and for the wonderful photo.    Visit Maggi's blog, Scrap, Travel, Bark.

Thanks for looking.
