Who is Escape Kitty?

Let me introduce myself. I am Escape Kitty.

I got my start on Sept 1, 2010 as I was out playing in the yard enjoying the birds and squirrels. Really just minding my own business. Happy. Content. Daydreaming.

When, but in an instant, I caught a movement in the corner of my eye. Since cats are noted for their superior vision, I had to do a double take because I thought my eyesight had failed me. I shut my kitty eyes for a moment and reopened them to disbelief.

A coyote? In MY yard? Could it be? And he's drooling my way? Move move move! Find my mom . Run to safety.

Big mistake! Really big mistake. Now she never lets me outside. Done - left to dream. ahhhhh but Kitty dreams really do come true.

So come follow me! I am off to Escape.

Episode #10 - Escape Kitty Friends and Family

Episode #10 - Escape Kitty Friends and Family

My cat has finally escaped. Not really sure if escaped is the correct word. Kidnapped, runaway, schemed perhaps? But none the less, she is not home, she's on the road with her new BFF, Chena.

Chena is a standard poodle owned by fellow scrapper, Maggi42. Chena is Maggi's wild child no doubt. :)

As the saga goes, my poor Kitty cannot romp about her backyard freely any longer because we have a coyote scouting her for a dinner entrée. He apparently polished off the skunk and woodchuck we had living back there and realizes my cat MUST be better then either of those. Ick.

This little scheme was dreamed up by someone, no fingers pointed (Chena). Before I could get a solid handle on the situation, a Motorhome called the Rolling Doghouse pulled up to my door, broke the front gates down giving Kitty the path to freedom. Off they went. Set out for ALASKA.

Someone told them there were NO coyotes in Alaska so it sounded like a perfect paradise. The little darlins will figure it out that it is cold and snowy and will be back soon. Chena may love romping in the snow, but Kitty does not. Chena will tire of hearing Kitty complain that the snow is up over her knees and her paws are frozen, blah blah blah.
For now, they're speeding down the highway with the wind whipping through their fur.

It's a crazy sight to see Chena driving a Motorhome while trying to stick her head out the window the way dogs like to do.

My page shows a bit of the cold that those gals will be feeling when they hit their destination. LOL. Silly little travelers. It's SPRING here.

Thanks for the collaboration on this Maggi42. The burlap I used symbolizes Kitty and the chocolate lace above Chena reminds me of her.

Episode #9-Escape Kitty (and Friend Chena) - Born to Be Wild Adventures

This is the part where all heck breaks loose.
Kicking it up a notch. It appears Escape Kitty has been in contact with a friend. Fellow scrapper, Maggi43, has a dog, Chena who is also interested in hitting the road. Not sure who's crazy idea it was, but Chena supplied the wheels in the form of this lovely "Rolling Doghouse". Who knew a poodle could drive?  She also grabbed Maggi's credit card.  Maggi's gonna have a few surprises on her next statement.

Breaking down the gates, the Doghouse rolled in, picked up Kitty and pulled away from the curb to set out for Alaska.

Yeah, that's what I said too....Alaska????? Well, someone told them that there were no coyotes in Alaska so the hooligans thought that would be a perfect destination.  (If you look closely, Chena is in the drivers seat and Kitty is in the window).

Very odd. I swear that when they pulled away I heard this very song click on:

Get your motor running
Head out on the highway
Looking for adventure
In whatever comes our way ...

Like a true nature child
We were born
Born to be wild
( Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf)

Thanks for looking and watch the road doggie. Thanks Maggie43 for your collaboration on this. And here's hoping your pup is a good driver.
SAFE TRAVELS

I used some Dusty Attic gates - but they could not hold Escape Kitty back.

Episode #8- Escape Kitty - Ransom of the Birds

Episode #8- Escape Kitty - Ransom of the Birds

I have a little situation at my house. Nothing that cannot be worked out with some rational minds. But then we are talking about Escape Kitty so bets are off.

There's been talk at my house about my scrapping challenges I am running at Scrapbook.com and elsewhere.  One challenge is a Round Robin and an Early Bird challenge at SB.com. OK -honestly, I am the only one talking about it at my house because the 3 men I live with yawn at the conversation topic. :)

As a side not - Recently, Kitty found out that her grandparents are Snow Birds. This happened in Episode #6 EK Goes Postal LO. Snow birds are people who migrate to warmer climates in the winter and return home in the spring like birds so).

Birds birds birds - Round Robin, Early Bird, Snow Bird?????

Any how, all this talk of birds perked Kitty's little furry ears right up. She wants in on the action. She wants me to fork over the birds. Oh sorry baby, NOT gonna happen.

Apparently winter insanity has taken hold of Kitty because she decided to hold my beloved pink distressing tool ( shown in the photo) hostage until ransom is paid. Scrapping has been put on hold at the house until this is worked out peacefully and logically.

Wish me luck.

Episode #7- Escape Kitty Goes Postal --- (Parcel that is!)

Episode #7- Escape Kitty Goes Postal --- (Parcel that is!)

Escape Kitty....ohhhhh where exactly shall I start? She's a Kitty smitten with the idea of freedom and the outdoors. My fault really since I indulged her desire. But one day a coyote in my yard squelched her desires. Not me!!!! It was him that did that, Kitty - not me!!! Really! ( though she glares at me with unbelieving eyes)

Kitty is sick of our cold NY weather and tired of staying inside -like many of us are. She knows that her Grandma and Grandpa "escape" the frigid cold by spending the winter in Florida. She has even heard me use that exact terminology to describe their disappearance from NY.
I've called my parents "snow birds" which is a term used to describe people who migrate to warmer climates for the winter, just as birds would do, then fly home in the spring.

hmmmm, interesting word to use. Finally dawns on Kitty why she loves her Grandparents so much! They are birds. Snow birds. How wonderful and so special.

At any rate, she also knows that Grandma is really soft on her and the rest of the grandkids as compared to me. That means she stands half a fightin chance to get outside if only she can make it to Florida.....plus added bonus, "Snow Birds" all around her? Ohhh my goodness dreams really can come true to be free and have a flock of snow birds all about. :)

So this plan evolved as she was playing inside a box one day - and what cat or small child for that matter does not just love playing in a box? She put two and two together and voila! The mail can deliver her and no one will know!

What she failed to consider was that our postal man had severe cat allergies and returned the box to us immediately! Oh Kitty! Such a silly plan for sure. But I see you in that box.

As a side note - I highly encourage Escape Kitty to think "outside the box" for a more successful plan.

Thanks for looking.... inside this box.
******** ohhhh word just in......rumor has it there are NO coyotes in Australia. You should see the expression on Kitty's face to find that news out. Crazy Kitty is running about the house looking for a new postal box.

Episode #6 - Escape Kitty - The "LOOK"

Episode #6 -  Escape Kitty - The "LOOK"
The continuing saga....when last we met up with Escape Kitty, she was napping in a planter and imagining she was in a lush garden surrounded with tall grass
(it was really my spider plant).

Poor sweet dear Kitty is left to only dream about being outside. She was once an content kitty claiming the wild outdoors as her own, but now is stuck inside the house hiding from a coyote - who also wants to claim the outdoors for his own, as well as claim my cat for his dinner.

Escape Kitty has a brother who is less bold. His name is StayBehind Cat - for a whole bunch of reasons mostly rooted in a single word, "chicken". Yep - he's the original scardey cat.

Apparently the two have been plotting and planning the perfect getaway. The door slid open and Escape Kitty's chance had come.  All her hopes and dreams are in front of her.
"Let's roll".

When the moment finally arrives, StayBehind Cat takes a quick glance out the backdoor and sees the mountain of cold snow.  He decides to remain true to his namesake and stay behind, maybe even on the couch or in front of the fire.

That was enough to generate the famous "LOOK" from Escape Kitty. Kind of like, "Seriously dude?" It's a look both Cat and mommy know so well!

As a side note, StayBehind Cat has yet to sign a release form enabling me to post his face on the internet. So at present, I can only shoot the backside of his head. I apologize for this inconvenience. We are in negotiations, though he remains apprehensive at this point (or plain chicken).

Thanks for giving this LO a look.....well, not quite the same "LOOK"...at least I hope not!

Episode #3-Santa Kitty

Santa Kitty

Reindeer Cat (well, actually StayBehind Cat)

Episode #3 - Santa Kitty
Here is the situation. My kitty is always looking for the quick escape. She's tried a few plans that all got botched. This new plot is a doozie. She's sneaky, no doubt. This time she has devised a plan to trick me by pretending she is Santa. In the process, she stuck cheesy reindeer antlers on her younger kitty brother, StayBehind Cat (and he let her?) to convince me they are the "real deal" so I have to let them out to get "the job done".   Ya know, delivering the goodies and "whatnot" for Christmas morning.

It's the "whatnot" that has me worried. Kitty has more "whatnot" in her eyes than Santa jolliness, don'tcha think?

And poor Reindeer Cat, well he just looks equally frightened of the plan - or maybe of his goofy look.

Question is, did I fall for it???? You decide. :)

Episode #2: Escape Kitty -Stopped by a Snowbank

Episode #2: Escape Kitty -Stopped by a Snowbank
To fill you in, my cat lives for the escape. She's a master at her craft, sneaky, fast. However I cannot let her out because there lives a big bad monster in my back woods - a coyote.

One day, she managed to escape out the back deck as I was shoveling a path. Well, she was sure she was clear on her way to freedom. Until she got stopped by a massive snow bank.  She tried to hop on top of the snow but sanl up to her belly and I had too pluck her back to warmth and safety.

And I'll tell ya that I got the "ol stink eye" like the snow bank was my doing.  Sorry little Kitty!  Your gonna have to wait for the big thaw - just like we are.

Little amusing side note....the polka dot paper I used was some old stash from the "Breaking Free Adventure Series". Ha sooooo appropriate, don'tcha think?

Episode #1 -The beginning of the Legend: How Escape Kitty got her start

My cat is the quickest door dasher on the planet. She's out before I even have the door open. She lives for the thrill of the escape. I never minded too much before but on Sept 1, 2010, our lives changed.

I let the Kitty out to romp and explore her backyard world when I saw a coyote wander into the yard sniffin for dinner. Frightened me to no end.   That put a quick halt on the outdoor fun.   So now she just dreams of the escape. Well she tries too escape as well, and manages some of the time.

And thus A Legend was born.........Escape Kitty
