Who is Escape Kitty?

Let me introduce myself. I am Escape Kitty.

I got my start on Sept 1, 2010 as I was out playing in the yard enjoying the birds and squirrels. Really just minding my own business. Happy. Content. Daydreaming.

When, but in an instant, I caught a movement in the corner of my eye. Since cats are noted for their superior vision, I had to do a double take because I thought my eyesight had failed me. I shut my kitty eyes for a moment and reopened them to disbelief.

A coyote? In MY yard? Could it be? And he's drooling my way? Move move move! Find my mom . Run to safety.

Big mistake! Really big mistake. Now she never lets me outside. Done - left to dream. ahhhhh but Kitty dreams really do come true.

So come follow me! I am off to Escape.

Escape Kitty - Sweet Freedom (Kitty's Tribute for Memorial Day): CSI- Colors, Stories, Inspiration Case File #21

Escape Kitty's Sweet Freedom - Tribute for Memorial Day for CSI- Colors, Stories, Inspiration Case File #21.

Escape Kitty and Jennifer Snyder have been sharing a DT spot for the month of May at CSI -Colors, Stories, Inspiration.  Mostly Kitty and a little Jennifer, but in Kitty's world, who's counting, right? Both Jennifer and Kitty cannot think of any better honor or more fitting way to wrap this up than by celebrating  the Sweet Freedoms we enjoy on behalf of the braveness of others.

Here is her entry for case file #21

Evidence:
1.  Flowers
2.  Stripes - mine are horizontal and done with inks, paper stripes and Tim Holtz film tape.
3.  Icing - well, Kitty's going to interpret this as icing and sprinkles over the Dusty Attic at the top in the flower section.

Testimony:
She is using the word "sweet" as her inspirational journaling jump point.  Sweet Freedom.  First of all very meaningful as Kitty's tribute to Memorial Day.  Sweet Freedom means so many things to Escape Kitty.  The feeling she gets on each and every opportunity to escape and experience the outdoors.  She certainly does love to get out and breath in the freshness.  But Kitty also recognizes that Sweet Freedom has been preserved in our country at the expense of those who so bravely fought and died for us.

While not the traditional red, white and blue colors that typically commemorate this American Holiday, Kitty put her furry little thinking cap on and made this about freedom.  There really isn't much about Kitty that is traditional anyway.  With that, Kitty's sentiments:
  • A deep and sincere thank you to those families grieving the loss of their military loved ones on this Memorial Day.  We grieve with you and honor that life so overflowing with bravery and selflessness so as to give for us.
  • Heartfelt  thanks to those families trying to mend wounded warriors.  A very different type of personal loss, yet every bit as appreciated and deserving of honor this Holiday. May your personal struggles be replaced by joy.
  • Remembering past warriors who served and died and have long been forgotten.  While your names slip our memories, your bravery and your commitment to keeping America free is celebrated and honored.
Thanks to Debbie Tehrani and the kind folks at CSI - Colors, Stories, Inspiration at trusting Kitty to play by the rules.  Great leap of faith, Debbie.  But Kitty did OK in behaving herself.
So take a chance yourself and go try it out.  Fun, challenging and the folks there are wonderful, warm and inspirational.

I used the wonderful Dusty Attic Dusty in Bloom Bridal Veil Flowers DA0805 here and there and also used the Dusty Attic Grass Border #1 DA0659.  I painted the border with green acrylic paint then used raspberry colored mirco beads at the top for the florals.

Thanks for looking and making my day.    I hope yours is puuuuurfect as well.

Escape Kitty -Home Again -Scraps Of Darkness May Summer Breeze

Escape Kitty and Scraps Of Darkness present May- Summer Breeze.  This kit reminds me of a warm summer day on my deck with a glass of fresh lemonade and a bowl of homegrown raspberries to snack on - and Kitty sitting by my side (probably on the patio table).  A fun collection of papers and unique embellishments including the amazing stick pins handcrafted by Mandy Harrell.

The featured papers this month are:
Simple Stories-Documented
Prima-Sun Kiss Collection
Little Yellow Bicycle

This design is based on the monthly sketch from Charlotte Jenkins, also known as suepup.  She is a brilliant sketch artist and makes scrapping so much easier.

Kitty Selected the Simple Stories - Documented Collection for her homecoming.  She has just arrived home from her travels to Australia.  While in Australia, there was never a dull moment. Here's a quick review of all that Kitty and Chena did in the land Down Under:
  • She sailed to Australia with her Poodle pal, Chena dressed as pirates. (Episode #35 and #36)
  • They made friends with a kangaroo and hopped around with him.  (Episoode #37)
  • Threw the crew at Dusty Attic a giant party at the Walkabout Creek Hotel. (Episode #38)
  • Went to visit Nullabor Cliffs (Episode #39)
  • Pushed my anxiety level to the limits by parachuting off Nullabor Cliffs (Episode #40)
  • Did a little snorkeling to outrun the sharks (Episode #41)
  • Become a motorcycle momma as she drove her cycle/camper thingy around. (Episode #42)
  • Danced her little heart out at the Sidney Opera House as a Prima Ballerina.(Episode #43)
  • Had a cast party with her favorite furry pup cousins.  (Episode #44)
  • Danced a beautiful Ballet Duet (Episode #45)
Now she has ended her dance tour in her hometown and is back napping in a cozy warm sunny spot in the house. Happy to be home for awhile and enjoying the loving back scratches from her family.  BUT the thoughts of the next adventure ARE brewing in her little head.   you can tell by the look in her dreamy eyes.

Words of Thanks From Kitty:
Much thanks to my friend Helene (Helbert at Scrapbook.com ) for a wonderful surprise.  She sent Jennifer Snyder, my special assistant and door warden, a package for her birthday.    Since I happen to intercept the package and I am a curious cat, I opened it. It was packed full of  laces and trims and some of the coolest burlap I have ever seen.  I cut a big piece out of the burlap to use here as a photo mat.  Then I taped the package shut.  I am certain Jennifer is none the wiser.    Thanks a million sweet lady!   It is puuuurfect here.

I used the Heartfelt creations/ Spellbinder Bella Rose Diecut and stamp combo for my vines and leaves.  Love this tool to pieces.  Then I twirled my own dark plum colored flower buds because I lacked the exact color of flowers I needed.

The wooded doily circles are from Kaisercraft.  I left them natural color or neked and just inked the edges with Tim Holtz Dusty Concord distress ink.  I left them a little delicate.

Escape Kitty Episode #46 - Kitty Impossible - CSI case file #19

Escape Kitty Episode #46 - Kitty Impossible  - CSI - Color, Stories, Inspiration case file #19
This month, Kitty and Jennifer Snyder are sharing the spot light..sort of.  Actually Kitty is hogging the spot light on stage and as Special Investigator for CSI - Color, Stories, Inspiration.  That's OK - Kitty had better ideas this month I suppose.

Here is the case file information and color palette.   The case file is solved by including two or more  items from the evidence list and then selecting one item from the testimony list to journal.

Kitty never seems to have problems in the journaling CAT-agory.

Evidence:
Testimony - my inspirational word is "Flight", but not the way a bird would take flight or an airplane flight. This is "Escape Kitty style flight".    Meaning to take flight and escape.  And who is she escaping from?  Well in a sense, she is escaping  from the paparazzi of the critically acclaimed ballet performance she just finished and trying to get back home.    Here, let me clarify...

This is "Kitty Impossible" for certain.  But what exactly is she doing?  In episodes #43, #44 and #45, Kitty has been on stage touring the world as a tiny feline Prima Ballerina.  The tour has been a hot success, tickets flying out the door and Auditoriums all around the world sold out.  Her last performance is back in our home town so this was an easy way for Kitty to eventually make it back home.

You have to know that Kitty loved the attention and the press releases and all the adoring fans asking for autographs.  Kitty was never expecting to be the subject of paparazzi.  But boy did she enjoy that attention.

So as the final curtain came and the show closed for good on Swan Song, Kitty decided to give the paparazzi one last spectacular exit.  She called all the paparazzi together to the roof of the tallest building in town, proceeded to walk boldly to the edge and bid the paparazzi Au revoir, till later.

Then she repelled down the side of the building as if she were auditioning for a role in the Mission Impossible or Kitty Impossible Movie.    From graceful delicate ballerina to thrill seeking action figure in the course of a day. Like I said, Kitty style flight.

Only you Kitty, only you!

Dusty Attic Wrought Iron Trim Set DA0547 was also used at the bottom.

Escape Kitty Episode #45 - Tiny Dancer Part Deux - Scraps of Elegance

Escape Kitty Episode #45 - Tiny Dancer Part Deux
This was created using the Scraps Of Elegance May Kit, Swan Song.   This kit is extraordinary.  Really!  Amazing collection of papers and embellishments.  Please check us out and consider  joining.

This layout is Part Deux in the Tiny Dancer mini-series for Escape Kitty.

Here is her tale:
In Episode #43, Kitty was invited to dance in Swan Song with a world famous dance troupe on stage at the Sidney Opera House.  Now she is dancing a duet.  This photo needs a little explanation.   As we know, Kitty is a cat with no formal ballet training.  She is just naturally talented at the art of being the "copy cat".  Ever hear that term?  I have no idea where it came from but our Little Miss has puuuuuurfected this skill.  Almost.

Our dear Kitty would have us believe that the term "copy cat" was coined for someone in her long line of feline ancestors. She may very well be right.

Kitty has been observing and copying the moves of her co-performer ballerina so that she can get her dance routine just right. Only problem with one tiny move.  Kitty made a mistake interpreting the  taller ballerina's graceful swan-like pose as an occasion to lick her paw.    Silly Kitty!  That Prima ballerina is not licking her paws.

No matter.  As we expect, the dance is a smashing hit.  Lots of autographs, lots of hugs, lots of cat allergies being ignored for the evening.  One adoring fan even sent Kitty some roses.
Kitty is off to perform her final dance in our hometown.    Can't wait to see her.  Grab your tickets soon for once this curtain is closed, Kitty will be off on another adventure.

Prima- Fairy Belle papers, chipboard and crystals help magically transform this page into an elegance dance stage for my little darlin.

I have also started mixing up the edge punches a bit out of a case of punch bordom I am having.  if you look at the lower corner below, you'll see how I used two punches:  Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Eyelet Lace at thhe very corner with one additional punch, then I change to using the Cherish Punch Around the Page.

You can see a tutorial on how to combine border punches here.
I also used a decorative laser cut cupcake wrapper for the top of my layout.  It was on clearance at a local hobby shop and I couldn't pass it by.  It is laser cut with the most delicate and intricate design and the clearance price was yellin, "buy me, use me".

This is a close up of the delicate laser cut cupcake wrapper.

This is Kitty's wild interpretation of the graceful Swan-like pose.  Nice try Sweetie.  It's cute but not Swan-like.

Kitty and her roses.

Escape Kitty Episode #44 - After Hours Party - CSI- Colors, Stories, Inspiration Case File #18

Escape Kitty Episode #44 - Cast Party -CSI- Colors, Stories, Inspiration Case File #18

I am honored to be part of the team of Special Investigator for CSI - Color, Stories, Inspiration for May 2012.  The team being Jennifer Snyder and my wonderful talented self, Escape Kitty ( I bet they had no idea they were getting a duo - lucky them).

Here is my Evidence List:
  • I used a decorative tissue at the underneath my photo and adhered it with modpodge.
  • I used a buckle on my ribbon
  • I twisted the orange gems
  • I used leaves
  • I used a very large blingy gem
My Testimony.  Now this is kind of funny.  One of the testimony selections says to grow in your journaling and write more than typical.  Oh my goodness - I am not sure I can blather on more than I already do!   I always try.  My Inspirational word is extreme.

Escape Kitty is currently starring on stage at the Sidney Opera House in the ballet, Swan Song.  This is Episode #43 and she is magnificent in her tutu.  Check out her blog and be dazzled.  Now Kitty would love to believe that she is the lead dancer because they placed her in the front row in the dance troupe photo but really she's just in the front row in the photo because she is, well, very small. The taller dancers must stand behind her.

Kitty is the smallest ballerina you will ever see,  BUT she is extremely talented, delicate on her feet and wins the hearts of the audience.

To help celebrate her accomplishments on the big stage, she sent her cousins, Fezzik and Lexie, tickets to see her performance.  They sailed from the US and arrived in time to grab the afternoon matinee and join her for the cast party after the show.  Fezzik and Lexie were hungry from the long journey, and Escape Kitty worked up quite an appetite twirling and jumping on stage.  You can imagine that dancing is difficult work for a little Kitty with 10 inch legs.

This photo shows the three cousins anxiously awaiting the food being brought out for the cast party.  Lips a smackin' in anticipation for some delicious morsels and kibble.

Enjoy the party little buddies.  Eat up.  And Kitty, better grab a cat-nap because the evening performance starts very soon.   Kitty would love to send you tickets to see her.  But you need to hurry before the shows sell out.

Please check out Escape Kitty's blog and see her in her tutu.  She certainly is tutu cute.  By the way, Fezzik is the little pup that looks like a teddy bear and Lexie is the darling Yorkshire Terrier.  Fezzik is a labradoodle puppy just in case you wanted to know.

Thanks to the great folks at CSI- Colors, Stories, Inspiration for putting up with Miss Escape Kitty's antics.

Here are close ups.  I used the Dusty Attic Wrought Iron Trim Set DA0547

Escape Kitty's Tutorial on How to Make Stone/Marble Columns

Escape Kitty's Very Own First EVER Tutorial on creating a stone or marble chipboard piece.  She is featuring Episode #43 - and it's really a spectacular tale.  BUT let's focus on her elegant Dusty Attic column treatment.

She picked the Dusty Attic Pots and Columns DA0546 as her chipboard but you can use anything that fiits your design.

Three EASY Kitty Steps Set in Stone:    (oh so witty Kitty)
Here are your supplies:

Complete.  Now you can decorate with lace trims, gold floss, flowers, stickles, rub ons, or vine ribbon.  Whatever fits your page.

Escape Kitty Episode #43 Presents The Scraps Of Elegance May - Swan Song

Escape Kitty Episode #43 - Tiny Dancer.

Escape Kitty welcomes you to the Scraps Of Elegance Reveal for May - Swan Song.
This kit is extraordinary.  Really!  You have never heard a happy scrapper until you've heard her opening up the box when this kit arrives.  Yeah, it rendered Kitty speechless for quite a while.    OK, sure you're probably thinking the obvious.  Kitty's a cat so she makes a terrible example, but then you'd be misguided.  Kitty is up there with the chattiest of people I know.  A happy Kitty is one that is opening up this kit.

This month, the featured papers are quite a combo of pure elegance:
Prima- Fairy Belle
Pink Paislee- London Market
Websters- Everyday Poetry

So on to Kitty's remarkable story.  As you may recall, Escape Kitty and Chena were scallywags comandeering a ship set for Australia.  They ended up in Sidney Harbour a few months back.  That was Episode #35 .  As pirates, they walked with a swagger, communicated using words like ARGGG and matey, and dressed in black.

Once they hit land, they tossed their edgy attitudes into the sea and did some touring, met some friends and had a ball.

Their time in Australia is coming to a close as Fall sets in.  They want to make it back home in time to experience spring and summer with family.  And sleep in their own beds for a change.... for Kitty, this usually means MY bed.

Kitty has come full circle while in Australia.  She started out her tour passing the Sidney Opera House in a pirate ship and she closes out her trip on stage in a ballerina tutu at the Sidney Opera House.    ONLY you Kitty! Only you.

So how did this come about?  Well, the ballet company was in need of a fill-in for a short time.  Someone who could execute amazing jumps with grace and elegance, spin on a dime, prance like a princess and capture the hearts of the audience.  Is there anyone BUT Kitty that could fill in?  Nope - not by a long shot.  So Kitty auditioned and got the part, of course.   Coming to a stage near you....

This design is base on the  May sketch from Charlotte Jenkins.  This is a gorgeous sketch and fun to use.  Thanks Charlotte, for your inspirational design.

Kitty used a Dusty Attic Pots and Columns DA0546 and has a tutorial on how to create the look on the column of granite or stone. She also used the Dusty Attic  Fancy Labels DA0491 that were cut up and placed around the photo.

A little tulle tucked in here for the look and feel of Kitty's ballet tutu and we are all set.
The gorgeous butterfly below comes in the kit curtesy of Renea Harrison.  Gorgeous and ever so delicate.

Here is a close up of the gorgeous butterfly from Renea Harrison

You look stunning Kitty!
