Who is Escape Kitty?

Let me introduce myself. I am Escape Kitty.

I got my start on Sept 1, 2010 as I was out playing in the yard enjoying the birds and squirrels. Really just minding my own business. Happy. Content. Daydreaming.

When, but in an instant, I caught a movement in the corner of my eye. Since cats are noted for their superior vision, I had to do a double take because I thought my eyesight had failed me. I shut my kitty eyes for a moment and reopened them to disbelief.

A coyote? In MY yard? Could it be? And he's drooling my way? Move move move! Find my mom . Run to safety.

Big mistake! Really big mistake. Now she never lets me outside. Done - left to dream. ahhhhh but Kitty dreams really do come true.

So come follow me! I am off to Escape.

Flying Unicorns Gives Back Blog Hop

If you have landed here from Min's (Melinda Thompson) blog, welcome!  If you would like to start at the beginning, please go here to the Flying Unicorns blog

Every year in the month of November, Flying Unicorn sponsors "Flying Unicorn Gives Back." This year, we've chosen a nationally recognized charity, Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.

For each project that is uploaded to our forum gallery, Flying Unicorn donates $1.00 to a maximum of $1,000 and. we've always reached our goal. With your help this year we will again.! Flying Unicorn also donates 5% of all sales during the month of November to the charity. Finally, do not forget to mark your calendars for our Silent Auction November 8th - November 16th .

We have set up the Flying Unicorn page on the Best Friends site where monetary donations can be made as well to help us reach this years goal of $3000.00 in charitable donations.

Best Friends' mission of No More Homeless Pets tries to place dogs and cats who are considered "unadoptable" into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs. Since its inception, the number of dogs and cats being destroyed in shelters has fallen to approximately 5 million a year. There has been much progress, but there is still much more to do. Best Friends made national headlines with
their intensive efforts in rescuing so many animals in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina..
In honor of Best Friends, and the November Kit of the Month -Heart's Twilight - I would like to share with you the extra special project I made using the Kit of the month :

Chena's Journey to the Rainbow Bridge

It's been a while since Escape Kitty and Chena had a little adventure.  Kitty had been enjoying the warmth of summer and the lazy days that summer brings when Chena, her best friend, appeared at Kitty's door.

"Oh  Miss Kitty, are you there?  I need you to come on a little journey with me."

Well Kitty is always up for some traveling, especially with Chena.  They have had many a grand trip and adventure.  But Chena would not tell Kitty where they were going, just to trust that she needed her dear friend Kitty to accompany her.

This time Chena had a little surprise for Kitty, full well knowing Kitty's legs get tired faster than Chena's AND that Kitty likes to take cat naps quite often. Chena came prepared with a sack for Kitty to ride on and enjoy the journey, nap a little, feel the wind in her whiskers.

Finally Chena arrived at her destination.   Kitty awoke to find a strange and beautiful sight - a Rainbow Bridge,  hills and lush grass , pets playing , jumping and running about in the warm sunshine.
Kitty hopped off her perch on the sack and marveled at the sight.  Chena gave Kitty a smile and a wonderful poodle hug.  She thanked Kitty for all the crazy adventures but it was now time for her to cross the bridge alone and join the other pets.

Chena promised that when it's Kitty's time to cross the bridge, she will be waiting for her as best friends do.

And off Chena went,  tail wagging, fluffy poodle ears a'flopping,  silly tongue hanging out to join old friends she had missed for some time.  Oh there's Chilly and Tiffany...

Till we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

"Rainbow Bridge (Death of a Pet)"

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing,
they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again -
and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting
pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.

  23. oh kitty...lovely story and layout but is too very sad....I'm sure your buddy will indeed be waiting for you one day. I first read the rainbow bridge when my first dog died suddenly from a heart defect at age 7... I still can hardly stand to read it, makes me so sad. Sorry you had to lose your friend.

  24. OH man. I tried to be tough through all these blogs of loving stories, and you've broken me at the end. Such a touching way to say farewell. I love the story of the Rainbow Bridge so much. I've had a lot of dogs during my life, and loved them all, but the one I'm longing the most to see again is the one I had as a child from the time I was 3 until I was 15. I have missed her for a lot of years now. Oh gosh ... look at me... I'm a blubbering mess. LOL. This is going to be a special month for sure - lots of memories of wonderful animal friends - lots of beautiful photos - and best of all - lots of new homes for animals who deserve love in their lives.
